Mitzi: Mitzi: 70 million adults in the United States have a criminal record. You might be among them. Or someone in your neighborhood. Someone at work. Someone you love.

I’m Mitzi Miller, and this is 70 Million, an open-source podcast about criminal justice from Lantigua Williams & Co.

On July 15th, we’re launching our second season with new stories from across the country.

Montage: We’re keeping people down there with rats, roaches, they got black mold...and we spend 16 million dollars on it every year.

The bad news: You're going to have to come with me.

So I got to experience the uncomfortability of just being stuffed in a cage and all that was real scary.

Mitzi: Our reporters will take a closer look at communities and programs trying bold solutions to solve big problems.

They will gather stories of how locals and communities are creating change…

Tape: We eliminated cash bail bonds in Atlanta. // No longer do you stay in our jail because you're poor.

Mitzi: What they’re still working on…

Jen Medbery: We’re part of a network of over 40 community bail funds across the country that rally the community to bond out our neighbors so they can get back to work, get back to their families.

Mitzi: And what we can learn from their setbacks and triumphs.

Join us this season to hear stories from those 70 million lives that touch our own.
